El Festival de poesía y música Poesía para todos, se abrirá al público
los próximos días 19, 20 y 21 de diciembre. Convocado por La Casa de
la Poesía, de la Oficina del Historiador de la Ciudad, y el Centro
Cultural Dulce María Loynaz, del Instituto Cubano del Libro, ofrecerá
intercambios de poesía y trova en diversos parques y plazas de la
Habana Vieja, siempre a partir de las cuatro de la tarde. Participarán
poetas y trovadores de la capital y otras regiones del país.

SYNOPSIS OF THE THIRD WAVE MUSICAL
The Third Wave Musical tells the true story about a classroom experiment in Fascism that got out of control! This story takes place in January 1967 at Cubberley High School in Palo Alto, California. It is a time of anti-war protests, racial integration, and a cultural revolution. To answer a student’s question about ‘how the holocaust could happen’ a young teacher, Mr. Jones, decides to give his world history class an exercise in discipline. He wanted to give his students the experience of being in a totalitarian society. To his surprise the students like the order and power that comes with discipline. No one could predict the explosive events that would follow.
During a five day period students gave up their freedom for the prospect of being superior to their classmates. Student curiosity and questioning was replaced with conformity and violence. Membership cards, salutes, bodyguards and informants fueled the excitement that became known as The Third Wave. Everyone wanted to join. Be apart of the action. Students from Cubberley and neighboring high schools crowded into the classroom and welcomed the witch hunt, rallies and the feeling of being special.
Like his followers, Mr. Jones was crossing some invisible line. No longer a teacher conducting a simulation but becoming a leader of a national movement. Enjoying the power and control. The adulation. He whispers to himself that he was doing this for his students. In his darkest moment he knew he had to end this madness. But how?
The Third Wave Musical explains what can happen when we stop believing in ourselves. When we fall victim to fear and intimidation. How difficult it is to stand up to injustice and group will. The price we pay when we lose the democratic process and respect of others to a world of bullies and simple answers.
The story of The Third Wave has been told many times in fictional books, TV, feature film and most recently as a documentary. The Wave Musical is the most accurate accounting of this story. Music provides a unique expression of the feelings and emotions that are the undercurrent of this cautionary tale. The potential for evil and good within all of us. I know. I am the author of this musical and I was the teacher responsible for The Third Wave.

El experimento de conformidad con el grupo de Ash fueron una serie de experimentos en 1951 que sirvió de demostración del poder de la conformidad de grupo.
Los experimentos, encabezados por Salomón Ash, pidieron a una serie de estudiantes que participaran en una prueba de visión. El experimento realmente consistía en estudiar el comportamiento del sujeto frente al comportamiento del resto del grupo, que eran cómplices " actores " del experimento.
Los cómplices y el sujeto, que consistían en un grupo de entre 7 y 9 participantes que se tenían que sentar en una clase. El experimentador explicaba que a continuación se les mostrarían una serie de líneas y que su tarea seria diferenciar la longitud de las mismas y comparar las que eran presentadas con la línea original. Cada sujeto, uno por uno, que líneas de las mostradas era bajo su juicio la que coincidía en longitud con la línea original.
Como he mencionado antes, el grupo consistía realmente en un sujeto de estudio y de los cómplices, que eran el resto de participantes. Estos cómplices habían recibido instrucciones antes del experimento de que respuestas debían de responder, y que eran erróneas.

En 1967, con el rock, el hippismo y los movimientos por los derechos civiles luchando contra un gobierno que ejercía la violencia, llevaba adelante una guerra, aplicaba la represión y lo hacía todo en nombre de un bien colectivo, un profesor de California llevó adelante un experimento con sus alumnos de Historia: los hizo parte de una organización de claros ecos nazis. El resultado, en pocos días, fue tan espeluznante como recordado.
